Registering an Application Library

Use

You register an application library in the system to enable applications that are prepared for the use of application libraries (for example, Web Survey) access to this application library.

Procedure

Registering a Local Application Library

  1. Enter the transaction code UBDS.

You get to the Business Domain Lib: Business Domain Maintenance screen.

  2. Choose Edit ® New Entries.

The system generates a new table entry for the registration of a new application library.

  3. Fill in the fields of the entry as follows:
    • Application: Choose one of the valid application types using the input help. Normally you choose the application type UWS_SURVEY_FORM_SERVICE.
    • Area: Enter a text that describes the business area to which the application library to be registered belongs. A text is generated for the automatically generated and registered application libraries from SEM-BPS. It contains the technical names of the assigned planning area and the planning level. This text is visible for the user when selecting an application library.
    • Description: Enter a text that describes the application library and its main uses. This text is visible for the user when selecting an application library.
    • Class: Enter the technical name of the ABAP-OO class through which the application library is technically implemented.
    • Text: Enter a text that describes the class.
    • Client: If you want to restrict the use of the application library to exactly one client, enter the number of the desired client here.

Application libraries are intended for cross-client usage. Therefore, you will normally not need to fill in this field.

  1. Save your entries.

Registering an Application Library from another System

You can register and use an application library in the system even when this application library is in another SAP System. In this case, in addition to the steps described above, you must assign an RFC destination to the application library through which a connection can be created to the remote system. Proceed as follows to do this:

  1. Enter the transaction code UBDC.

You get to the Business Domain Lib: Remote Destination Maintenance screen.

  2. Choose Edit ® New Entries.

The system generates a new table entry for the assignment of an RFC destination to an application library.

  3. Fill in the fields of the entry as follows:
    • Application: Choose one of the valid application types using the input help. Normally you choose the application type UWS_SURVEY_FORM_SERVICE.
    • Area: Select the business area of the remote application library with the input help. The valid values here correspond to the application libraries that you have registered in the transaction UBDS.
    • Dest.: Select the desired RFC destination with the input help.
  1. Save your entries.

The availability of the remote system is checked when you assign an application library that is in the remote system. It is not necessary to create a system connection to register such an application library in the system.

Result

Applications that are prepared for the use of application libraries (for example, Web Survey) can access the registered application libraries.
