The legend explains the meaning of the various colors and icons used in the short text editor, including the status of the texts. In the short text editor, choose Utilities ® Legend. This takes you to a dialog box containing the explanations.

The source text has already been translated, and the translation matches a valid proposal in the proposal pool. The color displayed in the status bar (with the technical information) is green.

The text has not been translated (that is, the translation line for this source text is empty). The color displayed in the status bar (with the technical information) is red.

Modified Text

This source text has been translated (the translation line contains a translation). However, the proposal pool does not contain a valid proposal for the current translation of this source text. This can happen in the following situations:

Ў        The proposal pool does not contain any proposals at all for this source text.

Ў        A developer has changed the source text.

Ў        A translator has changed or deleted the proposal that used to match the translation of the source text

The color displayed in the status bar is yellow.

Proposal Pool –
No Proposals Available

This source text has not been translated and it does not have a proposal in the proposal pool. The color displayed in the status bar is red. You need to enter a translation. If you want to use the proposal pool, you must then enter a proposal.

n

Proposal Pool – Proposals Available

Proposals already exist for this source text. The letter n represents the number of proposals (of the same type as the best proposal) in the proposal pool. You can add another proposal, or copy the proposed translation to the target text line. If no translation exists yet, the color displayed in the status bar is red. If there is a translation in the translation line, and if it matches a valid proposal, the color is green instead.

n

Proposal Pool – Decision Required

Proposals already exist for this source text. The letter n represents the number of proposals (of the same type as the best proposal) in the proposal pool. However, the translation in the translation line does not match any of these proposals in the proposal pool. Alternatively, there could be a translation of the source text in the translation line for which no suitable proposal exists in the proposal pool. You must create a new proposal for the translation, or accept an existing proposal as the translation.

Application Standard

The icon can refer to the translation line or the best proposal (see the quick info for the icon.) The entry has been created as an application standard in the proposal pool. The status of the application standard in the proposal pool is displayed next to the icon (A, S, B, or X.)

System Standard

The icon can refer to the translation line or the best proposal (see the quick info for the icon.) The entry has been created as a system standard in the proposal pool. The status of the system standard in the proposal pool is displayed next to the icon (A, S, B, or X.)

Exception

The icon refers to the translation line. The translation has been created as an exception in the proposal pool.

Full Text Exists

This icon indicates that a full text has been defined for an abbreviation in the proposal pool for the source or target text. If the number 1 is displayed next to the icon, a full text has been defined for the source text. If the number 2 is displayed next to the icon, a full text has been defined for the target text. If you click on the number, the full text is displayed for the abbreviation.

(nn)

100% of Translation Line is Displayed in Short Text Editor

The maximum input length available for a short text can be longer than the screen width. If this defined character length is used completely, it is possible for the text to exceed the width of the screen. If this icon is displayed, it means that the text in the source text line, translation line, and in the line below the translation line (that is, the best proposal) is displayed in full on the screen, even if it is technically possible for the source text, translation, or best proposal to exceed the screen width.

(!nn)

Translation Line Cut Off

If this icon is displayed, it means that it is technically possible for the source text, translation, and/or best proposal to exceed the screen width and that the text currently in the source text line, translation line, and/or in the line below the translation line (that is, the best proposal) has been cut off because it really does exceed this screen width. If you need to enter a translation that exceeds the width of the screen, click this icon. If you then click the translation line to enter your translation, a separate dialog box appears in which you can enter your translation in full.
