MaxDB provides a WebDAV servlet that implements the WebDAV protocol in accordance with RFC2518 (see www.w3.org). You can use a MaxDB database instance as a document store and access those documents directly via the WebDAV servlet using a web client such as Microsoft Windows Explorer.

You can use the WebDAV servlet on any operating system supported by the database system.

The WebDAV servlet is an integral part of the MaxDB software. For information on where to get the MaxDB software and how to install it, see Download; and in the Installation Manual, see Configuring Web SQL / WebDAV.

For more information about the database system, see Concepts of the Database System. For quick access to all documentation and an explanation of the most important terms, use the alphabetical Glossary.

As runtime environment for the MaxDB WebDAV servlet, you need a servlet container such as Apache Tomcat, SAP NetWeaver AS or JBoss.

You can use the Web SQL Studio database tool to access the document stores with which you are currently connected. See Web SQL Studio, Opening WebDAV Repositories
