Automatic Start

You can also configure the operating system and database instance so that the database instance is automatically transferred to the ONLINE operational state when the computer is started. To do this, you set the Startup type to Automatic for the kernel service of the database instance.

Microsoft Windows

You define whether a database instance will be started automatically when you create the database instance. See

?     Database Manager GUI, Creating a Database Instance: Custom

?     Database Manager CLI, db_create

To configure automatic start later, use the Database Manager CLI. See

?     Database Manager CLI, db_reg

The X Server, which you need for network communication, is started automatically by the database system.

On UNIX/Linux, you create a start script and generate symbolic links to it in the desired run-level directories. You can find more information about starting programs automatically in your operating system documentation.
