Use

The InfoCube Qualifications (0PAPD_C01) contains all of the transaction data uploaded from the source system(s) for qualifications. The data in the cube is extracted from the InfoSource Qualifications (0HR_PA_PD_1).

This InfoCube contains the general key figures Number of Employees (0HDCNT_CNT), Number of Qualifications (0QUALI_LAST) and Proficiency (0PRFCY_KYF). The system includes the following time dimensions for evaluations: Calendar Year/Month, Calendar Year/Quarter, and Calendar Year.

You can evaluate these key figures according to various attributes:

  • Personal data (such as nationality, gender, and language)
  • Organizational data (such as personnel area, employee group, and organizational unit)
  • Qualifications data (such as scale, qualification group)

Several structures containing key figures and/or specific calculation rules are provided with the InfoCube. These structures provide you with quick and easy access to frequently required evaluations, such as the average proficiency per qualification, or an annual comparison of employee qualifications (previous/current year comparison).

In the update rules, numerous fields are read from the master data tables at the end of the period (usually the last day of the month) and written to the InfoCube as characteristics. Therefore, you must ensure that master data is loaded and activated before the InfoSources.

To enable you to perform age-based calculations, the system includes the 0AGE_KYF key figure.

Characteristics

The characteristic Age in Years (0AGE) is a calculated characteristic. It contains the employee‘s age at the end of a period. You can define an age hierarchy according to the specific requirements of your enterprise, and then display the age structure of your enterprise, for example. To enable you to perform age-based calculations, the system includes an Age in Years key figure (0AGE_KYF).

The age characteristics are calculated using update rules at the end of a period. The period depends on the InfoSource from which it is taken. For example, the end of the period can be at the end of a calendar day or month.

Hierarchies

  • Hierarchy for the Age in Years characteristic

SAP delivers age in years hierarchies in a CSV file. However, you can also define hierarchies for the Age in Years characteristic (0AGE). You can determine intervals within the structure as required, for example, in five-year intervals (25 - 29 years, 30 - 34 years, etc.) Therefore, the age structure that you define yourself offers advantages over the fixed age structure of the Age Range characteristic (0AGE_RANGE).

For example, you can use the hierarchy to display the age structure of your enterprise as follows:

If you want to upload the hierarchy using the CSV file provided by SAP, proceed as follows:

  1. In the Administrator Workbench, choose the Source system tab page.
  2. Right click the top Source systems node, and choose Create source system.
  3. In the Select Source System Type dialog box, select File system, manual metadata, data using file interface.
  4. In the Create Source System dialog box, enter AGE_File in the Source system field, and Age in Years in the Name of source system field. Confirm your entries.
  5. Choose the InfoSources tab page.
  6. Right click the higher Master data in Personnel Administration node, and choose Create InfoSource.
  7. In the Create InfoSource: Select Type dialog box, select Master data / texts / hierarchies. Confirm your entry.
  8. In the Create InfoSource (Master Data) dialog box, enter 0AGE in the InfoObject field. Confirm your entry.
  9. Right click the lower Age in Years node, and choose Assign source system.
  10. In the Master Data InfoSource: Assign Source System dialog box, enter AGE_File in the Source system field. Confirm your entry.
  11. On the Maintain Metadata screen, choose Create hier. (create hierarchy).
  12. In the Create Hierarchy - Name dialog box, enter AGE in the Hierarchy name field, Age in Years (Hierarchy) in the Long description field, and an X in the Sorted hierarchy and Interval fields. Confirm your entries.
  13. Choose Save hier. (save hierarchy), followed by Save and Close.
  14. Right click the lower Age in Years (Hierarchy) node again, and choose Create InfoPackage.
  15. In the Create InfoPackage dialog box, enter a description as required in the Long description field. Confirm your entry.
  16. On the Scheduler (Maintain InfoPackage) screen, choose the External data tab page.
  17. In the Load external data from group box, select the Application server radio button. In the File type (if control file is switched off) group box, select the CSV file radio button.
  18. In the File name field, enter AGE_D.CSV for German node texts and AGE_E.CSV for English node texts. Save your entries.

Update Rules

In the update rules, numerous fields are read from the master data tables at the end of the period (usually the last day of the month) and written to the InfoCube as characteristics. Therefore, you must ensure that master data is loaded and activated before the InfoSources.

Structures

If structures include references to periods of time, the periods of time are represented by text variables (&0T_CYEAR&, &0T_CQUAT&) in the structure and preview. The appropriate values (calendar years, calendar quarters) are generated automatically when the queries are executed.

Example:

In the Comparison Previous Year / Current Year structure (0QT_PARC_001), the &0T_CYEAR& text variable is used for the "previous year" and "current year". When the query is executed, the text variable is replaced by the appropriate calendar years, that is, "previous year" is replaced by "1998", for example, and "current year" by "1999".

In the 4-Quarter Comparison (0QT_PARC_008) and Average 4 Quarters (0QT_PARC_009) structures, the basis of the calculation starts with the last complete quarter because it has complete values. For example, if a query compares 4 quarters and is started in the second quarter of 1999, the values of the 4 previous quarters - 1/99, 4/98, 3/98, and 2/98 - are compared.
