Created Indexes (iSeries)

This monitor provides an overview of the temporary indexes that have been created on database files since the last IPL of the database server.

The query optimizer may create temporary indexes while executing queries if no permanent indexes exist to fulfill the requirements.

To display information on the tables the indexes were created over, call transaction DB4COCKPIT.

  1. In the navigation frame, choose Performance ® Database Monitor ® Create Indexes.
  2. You can access information on the SQL statement that caused the index to be created by clicking the index you are interested in.

The query optimizer indicates why it needed to create the index (Reason Code), gives the names of the fields used to create the index, and may recommend that you build a permanent index to improve performance.
