Database Monitor Activity (iSeries)

This monitor provides an overview of activity of the database monitor.

  • To display information on the activity of the database monitor, call transaction DB4COCKPIT.

In the navigation frame, choose Performance ® Database Monitor ® Database Monitor Activity ® Monitored Jobs.

The following information is displayed:

Server

Name of the server

Job Name

Name of the job

Job User

Name of the user that is running the job

Job Number

Number of the job

Active Database Monitor

Status of database monitor:

0 Job is not currently monitored

1 Job is monitored by the file-based database monitor

2 Job is monitored by the memory-resident database monitor

3 Job is monitored by the file-based monitor and the memory-resident database monitor

Database Monitor Handle

If database monitor is switched on, the system ID is displayed. Otherwise the field is empty.

  • To display information on regular dumps, call transaction DB4COCKPIT.

In the navigation frame, choose Performance ® Database Monitor ® Database Monitor Activity ® Last Analysis.

The following information is displayed:

Description

Last Successful Dump

Last dump that was successfully initiated by report RSDB4DMP

Last Successful Merge

Last merge that was successfully initiated by report RSDB4UPD

Last Time Merge Started

Last time RSDB4UPD was started and initiated a merge

Last Time Merge Skipped

Last merge that was not successful

To analyze why the merge was skipped, choose Background Jobs and look at the job log of report RSDB4UPD.
