Defining the Start Options

Use

You can define start options for the individual modules according to your system requirements. If you confirm the dialog field without making any settings, then the import tool assumes the default start options, depending on the selected import mode. As soon as you have configured any settings, you can save them as a template for future import activities.

Prerequisites

You have started importing the queue.

If you want the import to run in the background, your system must have at least two free background processes available. Make sure that no other background jobs are executed at the same time.

Procedure

       1.      In the dialog field Start Options for the Queue, you can select the options you require for each module from the corresponding tab page:

Ў        Immediate Start/Continue in Dialog Immediately

Choose this option if you want the processing of this module to start immediately in dialog. If you select this option for multiple modules, then they are executed successively without being interrupted. The mode is blocked for the duration of the import.

Ў        Immediate Start/Continue in Background Immediately

Choose this option if you want the processing of this module to start immediately in the background. If you select this option for multiple modules, then they are executed successively without being interrupted.

Ў        Later Start/Continue in Background Later

Choose this option if you want the processing of this module to start in the background at a later time. Select the required start date and start time using input help. If you choose No Start After, then this module is executed in the period between Planned Start and No Start After only. If no background process is available during this time period, then this module is not started.

Ў        Manual Start/Continue Manually

Choose this option if you want to start processing this module manually. The import tool interrupts the process after processing the previous module.

       2.      If you change the start option for a module, this can affect the start options for the other modules. Choose Enter to refresh the summary of selected start options that are displayed in the upper part of the dialog field.

       3.      If you want to save your selection as a template for future import activities, choose Save As Template.

The template is then used by default when the import process is started again in the same import mode.

Note that you can only save the selected options as a template if you are starting a new queue import and are defining the options for the entire import process. If you continue the import process after a module has been processed or after an error has occurred, then it is no longer possible to save the changed options as a template.

If you have saved a start time in a template, then this time is automatically adjusted to the current date when the template is used (start of the import process of a new queue).

       4.      Confirm your selection by choosing Continue.

Result

The import tool starts importing the queue using the start options you have selected.

If the import tool interrupts the processing procedure after processing a module, you can check the start options before the start of the following module and change them if required. If you have scheduled modules to be processed in the background, you can only make changes using Job Administration. In the import tool, choose Environment  ® Background Job Administration.
