Compensation Manager

Task Area

The Compensation Manager develops and manages the implementation of compensation programs that provide employees with competitive rates of pay, and motivate and reward them.

The main focus is on employee programs for monetary payments (salaries, bonuses) and payments in kind (long-term incentive plans).

Activities:

  • Observes trends in competitive rates of pay, and determines the enterprise’s position in comparison with other employers
  • Conducts and participates in salary surveys
  • Ensures that jobs are evaluated appropriately at all levels
  • Develops and recommends guidelines for salary policies and administration
  • Develops and recommends payments for performance-based bonuses, annual bonuses, stock options, and other special payments for specific sections of the workforce
  • Manages special compensation plans
  • Monitors the programs’ effectiveness, and suggests changes
  • Advises management on specific, salary-related issues
