IDoc Administration

Purpose

IDoc (Intermediate Document) is the standard SAP format for sending messages (transaction data, master data, control data). You can use IDocs to send this data between any systems that support IDoc processing or the conversion of IDocs to other data formats.

Prerequisites

To be able to work with IDocs, you need to have made all required system configuration settings in the IMG (Customizing).

For the IDoc-specific section, call transaction SPRO and choose SAP Reference IMG ® SAP NetWeaver ® SAP Web Application Server ® IDoc Interface/ Application Link Enabling (ALE).

The individual sections of the IMG provide you with background information and specific instructions for each activity. Here you will also find information about the required settings.

Tools

?     The IDoc administration functions are in the SAP Menu under Tools ® IDoc Interface/ALE ® Administration.

You can schedule a report for IDoc monitoring to inform you if the number of critical IDocs exceeds a defined threshold.
