Displaying the Full Text for an Abbreviation

Use

The full text of the abbreviation has already been maintained in the proposal pool for your source language. So if you want to translate the abbreviation Appl. from English to Japanese, as in the above example, the full text Application must have been entered already for the abbreviation Appl.

Prerequisites

The full text of the abbreviation has already been maintained in the proposal pool for your source language. So if you want to translate the abbreviation Appl. from English to Japanese, as in the above example, the full text Application must have been entered already for the abbreviation Appl.

Procedure

...

       1.      Place the cursor in the translation line of the source text for which you want to display the full text.

       2.      In the short text editor, choose the  icon or choose Utilities ® Full Text for Abbreviation.

Result

A dialog box containing the full text appears.

·        If the full text is a system standard, nothing is displayed before the full text.

·        If the full text has been defined as an application standard, the application’s two-character code is displayed before the full text.

·        If more than one application standard has been defined for the same abbreviation, a full text is displayed for each application that has been maintained. The single-character code displayed after the application provides information on the technical environment from which the text originates. For example, R stands for R/3.

To return to the short text editor, close the dialog box.
