Displaying Data Loading Statistics


In the BW workload monitor, you can display the workload in different analysis views which highlight the workload from a particular perspective. One of these aspects is the question of which data loading processes are using most resources. You can use this information to answer the following questions, among others:

·        From which InfoSources was most data loaded?

·        Do long-running load processes need to be observed?

·        Was data loaded to multiple data targets in parallel?

·        How large is the throughput for the individual load processes?

·        Are there performance problems in the source or target system?

·        Which step of the data loading process required most time?


Data loading statistics are only written to the database table if BW statistics have been manually activated for the corresponding InfoProvider first. If this has not been done, it is therefore not possible to display any statistics in transaction ST03N.

Therefore activate the data loading statistics for all relevant InfoProviders. To do this, set the WHM flag in the BW Administrator Workbench (transaction RSA1) in the area Tools ® BW Statistics for InfoProvider.

If you delete the data from the statistics tables, you can no longer display runtime statistics in transaction ST03.



       1.      Start the Workload Monitor by calling transaction ST03.

       2.      Choose the Expert or Service Engineer user mode.

       3.      Choose the period to be analyzed in the BW Workload tree.

       4.      Under Analysis Views, choose the option Load Data.

       5.      The system displays the usual output area, in which the requested workload is displayed in an ALV Grid Control.

       6.      Within the profile, you have the following navigation options:

Ў        Change the level of aggregation

Ў        Display specific statistics data on corresponding tab pages

Ў        Double-click a row to display details for this row


The output area contains three aggregation levels with the following characteristics:

Aggregation Level


Display After a Double-Click


Display of the workload data, aggregated by the InfoSource-target object combination

Display all data loading requests for the relevant InfoSource

Target Object

Totaled display of the statistics data for each target object

Display of all InfoSources from which data was loaded into the target objects during the relevant period


Display of the statistics data for all data load requests in the selected period

The output area also contains four tab pages in each case with the following characteristics:

The number in the Parallel field shows the number of target objects into which data was loaded in parallel (from one InfoSource).

The statistics data for the data loading processes is loaded from the database table RSDDSTATWHM. It is therefore possible to read the runtime statistics and values for the number of transferred records, depending on the value in the ACTION field.

It is useful to know in this context that the total time (ACTION 900) does not necessarily have to be the same as the total of the other load steps, since on the one hand, wait times are not recorded, and on the other, some load processes can be performed in parallel.
